Put Hidden Expertise to Work / Full Day Workshop

The concept of transferable skills is familiar to anyone starting or re-tooling for a new position, adjusting to different responsibilities or considering options after a layoff.  Deeper and more powerful insights emerge when the human mind’s capacity for analogy comes into play. Working with current understandings from brain science, and using her own unusually diverse skill set, presenter Karen Mathieson leads participants to identify vital links between their passions and their work purpose. Through a day of discovery, practice and planning, “Hidden Expertise” has people laughing while they learn. This program supports work-life balance while supporting intentional engagement with career challenge.

Re:Write for Email Effectiveness / Full Day Workshop

As pre-digital communications technologies recede, email has emerged as a formal communications medium. However, its inherent liabilities such as uninflected tone, high frequency and potential for igniting negative emotion remain. Participants in “Re:Write” assess their own skill level as email authors and readers, consider areas for growth, and develop greater proficiency through a lively sequence of solo, duo, small group and full class exercises. This workshop will be helpful for career-entry workers adroit with instant communications forms such as Twitter or texting who need to establish professional competence in a key workplace skill area. It also serves any individual wishing to enhance effectiveness and reduce stress in email communication.
